Students from the School of Environment and Safety Engineering at Qingdao University of Science and Technology again visited NorthStar Recycling for an awareness internship

On November 18, 2025, Director Wang Dong of the Safety Engineering Teaching and Research Office and Associate Professor Yang Xiaogang from the School of Environment and Safety Engineering at Qingdao University of Science and Technology led over 60 safety engineering undergraduates to NorthStar Advanced Recycling Technology Research Institute for an awareness internship. Following its successful launch last year, both parties joined hands again this year, aiming to guide students deep into the industrial front lines, understand cutting-edge trends in the new energy sector, and personally experience its exploration and practices in environmental protection and safety.

At the beginning of the activity, guided by an interpreter, the students first visited NorthStar Recycling's exhibition hall, where they gained a detailed understanding of the company's journey from its founding stage to its growth into an industry leader.

Subsequently, everyone proceeded to the first-floor workshop for on-site observation. The theoretical knowledge from textbooks transformed into tangible production lines and equipment before their eyes, providing the students with a deeper understanding of NorthStar Recycling's corporate vision of "ensuring circular technology keeps pace with the times."

Later, in the Qingdao Hall on the second floor, Dr. Feng Yi delivered a substantial yet accessible thematic lecture for the students. Focusing on lithium battery recycling processes, Dr. Feng, drawing from his own research and development experience, explained complex technical principles with exceptional clarity. During the on-site interaction session, the students actively raised questions, and Dr. Feng patiently provided answers. Sparks of thought continuously collided, creating a highly enthusiastic atmosphere in the venue.

At the conclusion of the event, Professor Yang expressed that last year's inaugural visit to NorthStar Recycling had already left an impressive impression on the students. Leading the team here again this year, what he witnessed was NorthStar's accelerated development pace coupled with its unchanged original aspirations. Such an internship not only allowed the students to personally experience the crucial role of the circular economy in achieving the 'dual-carbon' goals but also gave them the most direct understanding of on-site safety and process safety in retired lithium battery recycling. This provides them with valuable guidance for their future specialized studies and career planning.

As an innovative practical platform in the field of circular technology, NorthStar Recycling is always committed to building bridges connecting academic theory with industrial practice. This internship served as a vivid interpretation of "the workshop as the classroom, practice as the teaching." We firmly believe that when the innovative thinking of youth resonates at the same frequency with the real pulse of industry, it unleashes boundless potential for the future. This exploration of green and safe practices has not only sown the seeds of dreams for the students but has also infused youthful vitality into the future of circular technology, collectively pointing toward a greener and more sustainable tomorrow.
